About the Author
My name is Stephen, but everyone calls me Steve. Only my mother, God rest her soul, ever called me Stephen and she only did that when I was in trouble. Enough said…
If you’re reading this, then you are in some way interested in me or my writing. I write to try to allow people to experience what I’ve seen and felt, and see and feel again as I’m typing. In some way, everything I write is anchored in real life: complex, and yet so simple. If you’ve read one of my pieces and felt something or could relate in some way, then I’ve done something right. If not, I’m very sorry. You should look elsewhere for entertainment and enlightenment.
I write because I love writing. It gives me an outlet for the millions of thoughts that go through my head every day. It keeps me marginally sane. Many of the things that I write about span different genres and sub-genres. What would a story about “aliens” be without some mystery, history, and romance? The things that run through my mind just don’t fit neatly into a single bucket. What about life does?
Now that we’ve covered that and you are apparently interested in learning more “about the author,” there are several things other than writing that I care about, as follows:
My family — I have the best family in the world (Period!).
Football — No, not American football (though I played it in college); world football a.k.a futbol a.k.a soccer. Anyone who knows me well knows that I particularly love Chelsea Football Club. Go Blues!
Saltwater — Being a native Floridian, I love everything in or around saltwater: surfing, fishing, diving, spearing, boating, etc.
Florida — I love it. When I left as a teenager, I thought I’d never return. I needed to run — to go! Yet, Florida always seemed to call to me. To be honest, I was cold the entire time I was gone. While I enjoy traveling, Florida will always be my home.
Background
Steve Barimo was born and raised in Hialeah, Florida and now lives in Jupiter, Florida. When he was in elementary school, he wrote an imaginative story about an all-powerful lion. His teacher liked it, commenting, “You should be a writer!” across the top of the page.
Sadly, Steve was still writing like a fourth grader when he went to college, and was referred to the school’s Writing Center for remedial writing lessons as a condition of his acceptance. Never one to want to suck at something, Steve began teaching himself to write (though he never actually went to the Writing Center). He wrote volumes of useless gibberish in college and graduate school, then wrote volumes more throughout his career. At first, he just wrote a bunch of boring business stuff but then, later, things finally got more interesting. Thankfully, his imagination never left him.
Steve’s now retired from all that, and writes and plays on a full time basis. He finds it hard to sit still other than to write. He can be reached via email at steve@stevebarimo.com. If he doesn’t email you back, then so be it.
Steve Barimo earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Bucknell University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Duke University.
