Treasure in Rock Creek
Treasure in Rock Creek
This is a story of hope more than anything else.
People often wonder if the right person is out there for them — the one they are meant for. I think about it. Sometimes I wonder if I’ve already met that person, or if, maybe, she might be the person that just walked past me. Maybe she walked out of a store a minute before I walked in. If only I’d been there a minute earlier, then maybe we might have met. Eventually, I believe, serendipitously, fate wins out.
This is my story of just such a situation. Where two people struggle for a long time, search for happiness, cope with loneliness, and unknowingly evade fate longer than intended. However, as I write in the book, “…fate had no intention of letting either escape its inevitable grasp.” At least, that's the hope.
Of all the short stories I’ve written, this is my personal favorite.
